Program Premiere

http://afprimarysingingtime.blogspot.com/2012/12/program-premier.html

Here is an idea I love about doing a Program Premiere in January for the songs in the new year.  At our  Stake Primary Auxiliary Training last week, my take away was teaching the kids to recognize why we sing so much at church, the importance of music in their lives, and to recognize the Spirit as they are singing, and I believe this activity will accomplish all of those.

Here is a link I found for Wiggle Sticks that are on my list of things to make.  And, if there's a certain song I really want to sing, I can rig it without them knowing! :)  Ha ha, I would never do that!  ;)

I can't wait to try this activity!  Doesn't get any cuter than this!  Snowflakes with themes that coordinate to songs.  The kids will be blown away.

Sing or Dare

As our last review day before we prep the details of the program in the chapel, we played Sing or Dare.  It's October, so I used two different colored plastic pumpkins.  One (our sing pumpkin) had paper strips with our songs on them, the other had dares written on them.  We sang a song, then they could pick two dares, then another song.  Some of the dares included props, some didn't.

We had the combined sharing and singing time, and still didn't get through all our program songs, but that's ok, because they were super motivated.  If you only have the regular time, choose your dares carefully to make sure they don't take too long.  Or else have one song, one dare.

Get the flag and lead the group in the pledge of allegiance.
Skip around the group and sing your ABC's.
Rub your belly, pat your head, and sing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.
Put on the Buzz Lightyear wings (my sons old Halloween costume) and shout "To Infinity and Beyond!"
Put on the cowboy hat and shout "YeeHaw!"
Put on the princess hat, find a friend and give them a compliment.
Stand on your chair and shout "I love Primary!"
Name all the kids in the room.
Name all the teachers in the room.
Name the two months we have General Conference.

Dress the Chorister

As a review, we did dress the chorister.  Summary: review multiple songs, or sing line by line to teach a new song, etc. if they do well, they get to pick something to dress you up.

The kids loved it, and were very into it.  Definitely a keeper. Suggestions:  Vary the parts of the body your dress up items go on.  In Sr. I had way too many things on my neck and head, it was hot and hard to see!  I had too many options available, and they kept picking things for my head.  Choose less items to select from, and more variety.
